Omega introduces Ultra Light watch

PRESS RELEASE for immediate release

Golfing Stars Join OMEGA For The New “Ultra Light” Launch

Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia and Tommy Fleetwood try the sporty new Seamaster ahead of the OMEGA Masters in Crans-Montana

As the OMEGA Masters swings into action this week, the iconic title sponsor has made an early start on the course, with the release of its brand new Seamaster Aqua Terra “Ultra Light”.

The sporty OMEGA watch features an incredibly lightweight and innovative design, and made a special début during Wednesday’s Pro-Am tournament when it was worn by OMEGA’s own top golfers, Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia and Tommy Fleetwood. The three professional players each sported the “Ultra Light” in their own chosen colour – red, green or blue.

For Rory McIlroy, it was a great opportunity to see the final “Ultra Light” design, after his close collaboration with the product development team during its creation.

He said, “I’m proud to have played a role in the development of OMEGA’s new lightweight sports watch. I know what an athlete needs in a watch and through collaboration with OMEGA, we were able to modify the timepiece. The new “Ultra Light” is an absolute pleasure to wear, whatever sport you play.”

Sergio Garcia said, “Each of us has chosen a different colour. I’ve gone with green, which I think works really nicely with the titanium dial. It’s also a nice little tribute to the green courses we play on every week.”

And Tommy Fleetwood said, “The most interesting feature for me is the telescopic crown. You can just push it inside the case so it doesn’t get in the way of your hands. It’s a very clever feature.”

When presented on its sporty fabric strap, the ergonomic “Ultra Light” weighs just 55g. The case, caseback and crown are fashioned from an alloy called Gamma Titanium. The unique material, used in the aeronautical industry due to its very resistant properties, is harder and lighter than conventional titanium. The timepiece also includes OMEGA’s very first titanium movement – the Master Chronometer Calibre 8928 Ti.

After its time on the course, the collection was displayed at OMEGA’s evening event to celebrate the start of the OMEGA Masters.
